Store Manager

Job Purpose

To oversee the total operations of the store ranging from merchandising, sales, customer service, staff development to other day-to-day administrative functions, in order to ensure the effective functioning of the store, achievement of business goals and Enhancement Company’s image in the market.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the store
  • Review previous days’ sales figures and take proactive initiatives to ensure stores targets are met
  • Monitor sales KPI’s to ensure budgets are achieved
  • Monitor staff performance with respect to customer service ensuring that all customers are greeted and met courteously, as well as attended to their needs for information/ repairs/ alterations etc
  • Guide, coach and train sales people on customer service disciplines
  • Ensure product knowledge and market/competition intelligence is given as on going in store training
  • Resolve customer issues as required
  • Organize the store layout to create the right ambience
  • Merchandise goods prominently on shelves as per company/ brand specifications, use window/ visual displays to enhance the appeal
  • Maintain cleanliness / hygiene at all levels of store operations
  • Verify stock at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Take a total stock count at least twice a year and monitor compliance with stock transfer procedures, with a view to ensure availability of optimum stocks of the latest items at all times
  • Identify slow and fast moving items back on a monthly basis
  • Supervise the staff with respect to their personal grooming, conduct during business hours, and level of product knowledge and customer service
  • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures
  • Identify and resolve IT system errors as required
  • Guide, coach, and motivate staff continuously to bring out their potential and enable them to improve their performance
  • Develop and mentor employees, identify specific training needs
  • Monitor effectiveness of individual’s progress within the team
  • Conduct daily store huddles to ensure that teams are up to date with relevant business information
