Food Director

Job Purpose

To lead the innovation and development of food

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To act as an ambassador and ‘champion’ the quality of food across all venues
  • To audit and report on the standards of food quality, taste and presentation in all venues
  • To work closely with the Directors when tendering for new business in regards to menu innovation, pricing policies, food innovation and food origins
  • As part of the tender, to present food innovation to potential Clients and carry out any menu tastings as part of the ‘bid’ process
  • To develop all menus according to the seasonal calendar and any venue contractual requirements
  • To inspire innovation from venue head chefs and implement ideas
  • To develop venue head chefs and actively promote through national competitions and awards
  • To ensure all menus dishes are styled and specified for each venue and that the Senior Management Team understand the presentation standards
  • To research, experience, feedback and promote innovation within similar industry sectors
  • To provide culinary instruction or demonstrate culinary techniques to head chefs
  • To understand the brand values and ensure menus and products are maintained accordingly
  • Analysis of customer feedback relating to food and addressing any points with venue head chefs
  • Attend client lunch and dinner events and represent as an ambassador and role model
  • Attend Client meetings where applicable adding value in development meetings
  • To communicate effectively with clients, verbally face to face and in writing
  • Responsible for holding and recording details of client meetings
  • Responsible for communicating weekly activities via the weekly report
  • Responsible for effectively communicating with staff on all levels
  • Undertake regular performance review meetings with the venue head chefs

  • Ensure correct food pricing on tender documentation
  • Ensure all venues adhere to costed menus
  • Undertake any reasonable duties as dictated by Deputy Managing Director and Managing Director that are within skills and capabilities
